Breakfast near Jim Beam

by JustinHammond » Thu Nov 04, 2010 9:55 am

I'm heading to Jim Beam early Sat. morning and I need some breakfast ideas. Sure, I could eat "in town", but I would love to try something new from the south part of town. Any suggestions?

There is not much right by Jim Beam except for gas stations & foodmarts. You could try to find a place in Brooks on the way. If I were you I would go into Bardstown & have breakfast at either The Talbott Tavern or the family style place right across from My Old Kentucky Home Park, can't think of the name but it is easy to find.

Talbot Tavern was my first idea, but they apparently don't serve breakfast.

I called Kurtz's, that was the place I could not remember the name of & they don't serve breakfast. There is another place that has an awesome breakfast buffet, real food, real eggs not powdered eggs, and it is called Stephen Foster's, just two minutes outside of the town circle. You can find it online with directions, it is a good spot. Good luck.

I'll second Stephen Foster. Great food, reasonably priced!

I'll throw in my vote for Stephen Foster Restaurant too. I grew up in Nelson County, and it became somewhat of a Saturday morning tradition to hit the breakfast buffet before going to the grocery. There's nothing fancy or "foodie" about the place or the food, but if you get a peek into the kitchen when the sliding mirrors behind the buffet are opened, you'll see women actually cooking food, not microwaving it, not reconstituting it, just cooking it.

I'm sort of "meh" on their lunch and dinner buffets, but the breakfast is a good choice.

Stephen Foster breakfast buffet, I remember real scrambled eggs, excellent sausage & bacon, amazing hashbrowns, and homemade muffins & biscuits. It was real food made by real cooks, not powered eggs etc. They probably also had fried apples!!
