Need some help!

by Amy Smalley » Tue Nov 02, 2010 9:37 am

I have been a member on this site for awhile. I don't post a lot but I read it all the time. I run a monthly women's Girls Night Out group that picks a different restaurant to try each month. Usually we have between 6-12 people and for most of them, it introduces them to restaurants they have never tried before. If they like it, they will hopefully return:) I use the posts on this site to help me determine what restaurants we should try!

Anyway, I don't know what the sites policy is on this, so if I'm out of line, Robin, please just delete or disregard. I am a parent at a local elementary school. We do an annual holiday arts and crafts show, the Snowball Boutique, that raises money for our school cultural arts programs. This year we are adding a raffle which we hope will raise at least $500 - $1000 more dollars. We are looking for items that are holiday related. Actor's Theatre was generous enough to donate several tickets to A Christmas Story. I would love to be able to pair that up with dinner somewhere. I thought of this site and wondered if anyone would be willing to donate a gift certificate for their restaurant. We would love anything really. That was just one idea. We are a non-profit and I have all the necessary paperwork I can send to you. We could offer some advertising for you business in our show's program.

If this is something anyone would be interested in, please message me privately.

Thanks for considering:)

Amy, since you're trying to raise money for a good, educational cause, I don't see any problem with your asking. I hope you get some replies, too! Just as advice, I would also encourage you to call the managers of restaurants you've liked, particularly those where you've taken your business. You might get some "bites" here, but I think you'll have the best chance of success with a direct personal approach, by phone or even dropping in to visit. Another hint: Avoid the peak of the lunch or dinner hour when they're really busy. 8)

Thanks David! That is so generous. In fact, I think we will add an additional raffle package based solely on your donation.

I am apparently technically challenged though because I cannot figure out how to message you privately. So, please e-mail me at aksmalley@yahoo.com and we'll work it all out.

Thanks Again!

BTW, if anyone else would like to donate, we would still love a restaurant gift certificate to pair with our Actor's Theater tickets.

My husband, some friends and I tried out Bank Street Brewhouse Friday night to pick up the generous certificate David donated. We had a great time and our food was wonderful. For an appetizer we all shared the frittes with various sauces - that was fun. We couldn't narrow it down to the three that come with the fries so we just did all 9 - my particular favorites was the rouille and the lavender syrup. For my dinner I had the special which was a striped bass with mushrooms in a beurre blanc sauce. Out of this world delicious! I'm so glad we tried it . We don't get over to New Albany very often but now we have a reason. :D

BTW, I am not a native to Louisville. Can someone tell me some other attractions (shops, restaurants, etc.) going on in New Albany? I'd like to expand my Indiana horizons:)

Thanks David!
