Here today, gone tamale?

by MarieP » Mon Nov 01, 2010 11:05 pm

What would you all have done in this situation?

My parents and I went to a local Mexican establishment, and we had a coupon for buy one combo dinner get one free. My mom and I both got a combo plate, each including a tamale. When we got our plates, both of our tamales looked odd, like someone had cut them already, and they were about as half as big as the enchiladas on our plates. My mom wondered if they had given us each half of one or something. We asked our server, and he said it was the entire tamale. But we've gotten tamales from there before, and they were larger and more intact. They were good, mind you, and it could have been that it was the last one left (they don't sell them a la carte, so they probably only make a certain amount per day). But if it was the last one left, why would the server tell us something different? We didn't ask for the manager, but I wonder if we should have? It was very odd!

half as big as an enchilada..... definitely sounds like half a tamale. If you have had them there before and were sure about it being only half of one, yes i think you should have said something. And you could have mentioned that to the manager.
