Goose Creek Diner! With greens of the day and loaded baked potato salad.

Do I see a review on chicken-fried steak in the works?!

I don't know about that. I was just watching a Bobby Flay Throwdown, and it looked great!

Goose Creek Diner really does make a delicious CFS. Yum!

I've never eaten any in Louisville, but the Flying J I64 around Frankfort has a pretty mean model. The "steak" covers one plate, sides on another plate.

Thanks, Jeff! That might be worth a drive ... I don't get to check out the Valley area that much.

I'm also wondering if Wagner's Pharmacy does CFS.

Cottage Inn had a good version, but I haven't been for awhile.

My husband loves chicken fried steak, but with my rapidly approaching middle age metabolism, when I want something big and heavy, I'm thinking pizza. Chicken fried steak seems like bad meat covered with breading and pasty gravy. But that's probably the fact that I'm a Queens girl coming out. I don't really get Southern food.

Eliza, I'm a Louisville boy who lived in Queens (21st near Ditmars in Astoria), and I'm right there with you. But Bobby Flay made it look good, so I'm thinking about giving it another try.

My husband and i were just talking about chicken fried steak. He is not a big fan of it, but there are a couple of places in the valley that are pretty known for it. I am sure that i won't find one like the one at the Kountry Kitchen...... beautiful, thin, golden, lays across the whole plate, your sides are served alongside. Plus, the best part was the old-school server that would come and chat with ya'.

sigh................ home....... :( :( :(
