Another One Bites The Dust

by Mike D » Wed Oct 27, 2010 11:14 am

I was walking down Frankfort Avenue earlier this morning and saw a sign in the window of Cones 'N Coneyz indicating that they are closing this week. Too bad. They put out a good product and were a nice addition to the neighborhood.

I noticed it too; there were some cars parked behind the place on Friday night. But not much activity going on I could see driving past.

Little Jerusalem seems to be defunct. I noticed late last week that there were no cars parked out front and for sale signs in the doors. It's been the same everyday since.

No, dammit!

We just talked to the guy (Mike) today. He said the owners decided to move "out to the East Side," and have their eye on (not finalized) the Kroger shopping center on LaGrange Road at the Snyder.

He thinks Maria at It's All Greek To Me would like to expand into this space, perhaps to make The Best Gyro (sic) in the Solar System.

A car-dependent hot dog place. Not sure I get it.

That is certainly a major change. Certainly very different demographic which I'm not sure will work as good. I'm not sure the families with children will appreciate quality hot dogs.

That really sucks. I really enjoyed their food and their quirky little space. That is going to be WAY too far for me to give them any regular trade when I have a Lonnie's that is closer. They were beating Lonnie's currently because they were right near home... :(

Me either. I'm told it was the owners' decision.

If I'm not mistaken I think they live out that way, which I'm sure is part of the reason.

Very hefty lease for a small venue.
There is talk of her relocating downtown around the courthouse, but that is just talk.
