Wonderful offline at Peking City Bistro

by Mark R. » Tue Oct 26, 2010 10:46 am

We had a wonderful evening at the 10 course traditional dinner last night! I think everyone in the group had a great time and all the food was excellent. I certainly want to be sure John H realizes how much everyone appreciates his hard work setting everything up.

Well, thanks go the chef and the rest of the folks at Peking City that made it happen.
Gary Im guessing your referring to one of the last dishes(the bamboo and small fish) that one was a bit unique textually speaking, but the little fish were really tasty. Did anyone get what kind of mushrooms were that mushroom and greens dish? They were awesome.
I know I saw Bill and Richard taking a few pics, maybe you guys want to post a couple.

BTW just to show the age old adage about eating Chinese food is not always correct...Anne and I were not hungry a half an hour later.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

I have no idea what kind of mushrooms they were but mmmm...more please. Everything was fantastic. I did however not try the spongy fish dish. Although I did try the tongue in the appetizer plate.

Angel and staff did a wonderful job and the amount of food and how it just kept coming. I have dreams like that.

Didn't we decide they were shiitakes? That's what they looked like to me.

I'm sure they were dried shiitaki. I want a meal of that dish and the tea smoked duck.

I'm not sure we had them on the plate long enough to decide. They were GONE. And SO good. I'd like to add the grapes served with the melon at the end of the meal were delicious.

Yeah ! ....and the first Chinese meal I have ever had where there was no RICE ! Thank God!
The meal really was delicious and beautifully presented, we had a great time.

Thanks for organizing John. 8)
