Rumball's?

by Ellen P » Fri Oct 22, 2010 9:34 pm

The Beef O Bradys on 22 east of the Summit is now a Rumball's. Noticed the new sign tonight. Beef's was owned by a guy who I first knew at the Chi Chi's in Middletown years ago. Next he tried Dillbillys then opened the Outback(s). He seemed to do alright with the Beefs but maybe they ran their course. We only went to the one in Middletown once, years ago, but seemed to be small portions for the price of a regular portion, and never went back for that reason. Again, too many choices.
Same guy? Local? Thanks.

I can't say for certain whether or not Rich is behind Rumballs near the Summit. There is a Rumballs Sports Bar in Louisville, but could not say anything about the association. After opening the first Outback outside of Florida with Steve back in the 1980's (post Chi Chi's and their death because of tainted green onions), Rich went on to open several more Outbacks in Louisville; becoming Proprietor @ Fern Vally Rd for a term. Later on, he left and opened the Beef O Brady's. I know there are several around Louisville, and outside too, plus they also run on a franchise basis. Rich worked at the BoB in Middletown for as long as I could recall, then last I heard, was going to settle down. I'm not sure he'd take on another venture if still associated with BoB, but may be incorrect. The Summit location wasn't very prosperous and THINK they were on the down hill long before they actually stopped.

Then again, knowing Rich, anything is possible.

Rich from the Middletown Beef O' Bradys owns the Middletown store and the franchise rights for this area. Rich did not won the Hwy 22 store, he owned the franchise rights and sold them to the former owner. Rumball's is one of our customers and Mike Rumball is the owner of both locations in town.

Got a kick out of this little ditty about Rumballs from another website:

"This is a new place meant for the whole family, but parents will appreciate $1 domestic pints daily and $1.25 domestic bottles on Tuesdays".

A "family" sports bar, now THERE is an interesting concept...I've now got this mental picture of "parents" swilling "$1 domestic pints" all afternoon and then strapping little Johnny in the car seat for the ride home. :?
