No Longer Old Louisville

The young, upstart to the tradition is now offering local restaurants the chance to compete for the chance to compete against national competition for the rights to a crown that bears our names?
Based upon crowd votes?
Essentialy, someone from Boston, who has never watched a Derby in thier lives gets the shot to wear our roses- the opportunity to beat UK in Rupp Arena, except the fans get to pick the team UK puts on the floor?
There were a lot of people who dissed this 'We're gonna name our's yours' play back when it happened. I didn't. Now I feel kinda bad for my lack of vision.
This is an affront, from people who know no better. These PR people thought it would be wise to bring in national chefs and make us beg for the opportunity to battle against them.
Please. There isn't a chef in Louisville that shouldn't boycott this. In their second year, stealing another event's namesake, they are gonna make us work agaist each other to fight against mid-name players from other cities?
Show me a Robuchon. A Dufresne. A Batali. That makes this kinda effort worth it. Otherwise, two tiers of competition simply don't justify the right to wear a stolen crown. Sorry.
We have chefs running Iron Chef. Mixoligists considered amongst the best in the world. Our writers are quoted in perpetuum. We are strong and shouldn't have to pander to this kinda play, from an upstart to a tradition that was already began before last year.
That's my opinion.
