Where to get cold sesame noodles?

by Mike Hardin » Wed Aug 01, 2007 9:53 am

My wife is craving cold sesame noodles and we can't seem to find them. Anyone know of a restaurant in town with it on the menu?

I thought Zen Garden had 'em, Mike, but I don't see it on their online menu.

Isn't it a staple at most of the fast-food Chinese chopsticks joints around town, like Great Wall next door to Dirty Kroger's? Again, I'm going on memory here. Haven't had any cold Sichuan sesame noodles lately, but now you've given me a craving ...

We live near Double Dragon at Whips Mill/LaGrange road location and they don't have them. I'll never go to Great Wall after they substituted dill pickles for green peppers in my Sweet n Sour chicken. Blech!

Great Wall isn't my favorite, I just named it as representative of the genre. Try the one near Springhurst Kroger if you prefer. ;) All I'm saying is that I think the huge menus that seem to be standard at many of those places include cold noodles. No testimony on what kind of a job individual eateries do.

Jasmine on Shelbyville Road does an excellent Cold Sesame Noodle dish - I have it for lunch quite a bit.

Way, way out ... in the little shopping center on the right a few blocks beyond the Geneway.

Specifically, 13823 English Villa Drive, 244-8896.

Pretty sure Sesame on Hurstbourne (at Shelbyville Road) has 'em.

Double Dragon on Goss Avenue - THE BEST

Ling Ling next to Fresh market on Shelbyville Rd - very good with silvered veggies instead of lettuce.

Emperor of China has a decent version (Holiday Manor).

Several years ago I made a great version and entered it in the state fair in the Spam contest (cold sesame noodles with Spam). We thought it wonderful, and the recipe was authentic. The judge assigned to my table took one bite, made a huge face, and needless to say I wasn't invited to the semifinals!
