Zapata's Corner?

by Chris M » Tue Oct 19, 2010 11:37 am

Tried to go for lunch yesterday and they were closed, locked and dark. No sign that I could see.

Tried to call today and the number is going straight to a mailbox that is full.

Anybody heard anything?

I hope it isn't true...this place is fantastic, though I must admit it was never even half full on any of the half dozen occasions that I was there.

I notice that was closed with the lights out Sunday when we went by. I was also hoping they were on vacation or something like that. If they really are closed permanently they were probably another victim of a parking problems caused by Havana Rhumba.

I had brunch there on Saturday and nothing was said or hinted. I love this place and have not had a single parking problem. It has become my favorite go to place for week-end brunch.

Noontime isn't a problem but in the evening the front parking lot is ridiculous with all the cars from Havana Rhumba. That's one of the reasons the Chinese restaurant that used to be on the plaza went out of business.

Unfortunately it appears this place is closed. Tried to stop in today and the place looked vacant.

What you said. It was one of the better Mexican places in the East End. I'm blaming Aqua Buddha.

First time posting, but I have followed these forums for awhile now. My fiance and I had been going to Zapata's fairly frequently since we read about it on this forum. We were both blown away by the food quality after the first time that we had been making frequent treks out there (we live near downtown) for the past few months. We are both disappointed to hear that this great place is no longer around. In our search for a potential alternative we have tried the new place out the by mall Chuy's. They have handmade tortilla's and everything we have had has been great so far. I would highly recommend it if you are trying to find a place which has alot of the same food qualities that you enjoyed at Zapata.
