Local source of mini-croissants?

by Robin Garr » Fri Oct 15, 2010 6:08 pm

I have a need for a significant number (100, maybe more) decent but not ridiculously expensive sandwich "croissants" to serve as sandwiches at a quick lunch before a speaker on Oct. 30. Our cooks team is doing most of the cooking, but we don't really want to deal with that much bread from scratch. Anyone have any suggestions? I've never been in the market for this kind of thing and wouldn't know where to begin, but as always, local is best. :)

The Bakery has 'em. Not sure on price, call me tomorrow.

Sam's. They are actually really good for the price. I think it's around 20 (or 24) for $4ish

I was just at Krogers on Hubbards Lane and happened to see boxes of croissants for $4.49. It surprised me to see them there.

Whoa, that would work. We're going to be serving them two blocks from that Kroger ...

They are in a display in the foyer- if that is the correct word to use for a Kroger.

I think that Kroger has graduated to the point where it has a Great Hall and a Courtier-s Waiting Room, stuff like that. ;)

Thanks, Gary!

If you don't do Walmart, do you do Costco? Pretty much same items, similar pricing. I have seen large packages as mentioned for Sam's for same price (have some in freezer now!), but you never know from one visit to the next what will be there.

Politically, yes. In this Manichean system Costco is the light, Sam's is the dark. Practically, Mary and I didn't renew our Costco card because we didn't get out there often, and when we did, most of the stuff came in packages too large for a family of two. I'm 100 percent certain that some of the other families in our group have 'em, though, so we'll line that up next if Kroger doesn't work out.

I got it in seminary classes. I tried to do some Googline for you, but honestly couldn't find anything that covers it more thoroughly than Wiki other than some scholarly book findings that you have to pay to read.

I love that I know someone who can use that word.
I feel a linguistic glow in my soul.
