A perfect day ends at Equus

by Gayle DeM » Sun Oct 03, 2010 1:35 pm

Yesterday, I met a Danville friend to see "Honor in the Valley of Tears," the story of A-Company 1/8 4th Infantry Division during the Vietnam War, co-written and produced by the son of a former coworker. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1342116/ Afterwards, we went to Equus for a light supper of shared arancini with crawfish and gnocchi with peas, truffle cream, roasted mushrooms, parmesan, and chives, made even more special because both the chef and waiter (forumites Dallas McGarity and Gary Fox) are dear friends. I loved the extra flavor dimension that that the crawfish added to the arancini and I don't believe that I have ever partaken of lighter gnocchi. :D

 Gayle, when I first read the title of your thread I thought "Oh no here we go again". I quickly read it and was reassured that one of our favorite restaurants did not cause your near perfect day to end on a sour note!

Whoops, Mark. I now can see how the title could be misleading, but, no, you were right to be reassured the food and service at Equus was flawless. I guess it was a perfect day. I have edited my original title to so reflect. :D
