I think the author needs to do more research, cause I'm not tipping for the servers approval...and I can't imagine that I'm in such a minut minority.

I'll tip more if the server is friendly or funny, but usually if they are getting that higher tip it's because they've also given good service. It's kinda hard to build a good rapport in a 45-60 minute meal if you only go by the table twice.
