Late-season Farmer's Markets?

by Deb Hall » Mon Sep 27, 2010 6:41 pm

So last Saturday was the last day for Beargrass, but several of the Markets are still open. I know Norton Commons continues thru at least Thanksgiving ( including T-day heritage turkeys). I was told at Westport Village that they'll be open several more weeks, with some of the Beargrass farmers going over there (afternoon).

Anybody know of other markets that'll be open for a while?

Thanks, Justin! That's a good list but I was hoping for some insider intel. The days for the two I mentioned have both changed organically  and I was guessing the same might apply for other markets too.
Anybody have any insights?

Bardstown Road stays open all winter, Deb. After Halloween it drops back to just a few vendors, mostly meat, but it's there.

I got some lovely very late season tomatoes, my first butternut squash of the season, and a box of VERY ripe plums at Rainbow Blossom yesterday. They said they would be there a few more weeks.

The La Grange Farmers Market (at courthouse square) continues into October. At least for those of us easteders, it's not much further than getting ourselves to Beargrass or Bardstown. The plus is that Q&A Sweet Treats has a booth there.

Any idea if they keep making those omlets throughout the winter? I had one for the first time a few weeks ago (with trout). Wow.

Brad, to be honest, I'm not certain. We usually go maybe once a month to pick up meat from Dreamcatcher and Fiedler, and to my recollection it's just a few booths huddled together in the center of the lot without amenities. But frankly, I tend to run in and get stuff and run out, so I could have missed it.

I asked that Saturday and was told they would be doing the omelets though November.
