Shady Lane does it again!

by Madeline M » Sat Sep 25, 2010 2:04 pm

Finally made our way to Shady Lane Cafe for breakfast this morning and it was so good! We like to do a sampling on our first visit to places so we ordered quite a few things. Biscuits and Gravy, Pancakes, an Omelette and Cheese Grits. Everything was very good, but the cheese grits are very impressive! While I like the ones at Wild Eggs (when they make the right flavor) they have nothing on these grits. They are so smooth and creamy, good amount of cheese but not overdone and some garlic for complexity. My picky hubby gave them two thumbs up, said I needed to get my own next time and raved about them on facebook. We will be going back soon...I've got to try the Peach Pecan French Toast and some more of those grits!

We also got to hear the birthday song, priceless! It's nice to see people doing what they love, it really shows there!

John and I made our first trip to Shady Lane yesterday on a rare Monday off together. Bill and Susanne have Mondays off, but the burger mojo was definitely on duty. Oh, man! What a great burger, a great selection of condiments, great pickle slices, and - my favorite, crinkle-cut fries (although John had the house-made chips and they were amazing!)

Really cute place, cozy, lots of books and magazines to read. Roz took great care of us. Eight thumbs up!
