Best Cajun/Creole Restaurant
1) J. Gumbo’s
2) Joe’s OK Bayou
3) Café Lou Lou I love Lou Lou, but I'm not sure I'd call it a "Cajun/Creole Restaurant."

Best French Fries I think Bank Street deserves a nod here, though I agree about BP and Classico.
1) The Blind Pig
2) Caffé Classico
3) Village Anchor Pub

Best Indian Restaurant Seems like DakShin should get a mention.
1) Sitar
2) Shalimar
3) Kashmir

Best Italian Restaurant
1) Le Gallo Rosso
2) Comeback Inn
3) Vincenzo’s This spot should be Volare, hands down.

Best Restaurant (Louisville) I like Jack Fry's and English Grill, but I can think of a few other restaurants that should probably be in that spot. I'm glad Seviche got a nod.
1) Jack Fry’s
2) English Grill
3) Seviche

Not food related, but:
Best Attorney I'm pretty sure I should be listed here.
1) Armand Judah
2) David Crittenden
3) Darryl Issacs

That was disappointing. You'd think at least ONE thing I voted for would show up on the list.

In terms of the entire list, there seem to be three things at work here: (A) Ballot stuffing, (B) Legitimate voters who don't understand that life as we know it does exist outside the Watterson and (C) People who vote for things they don't know jack-sh** about.

Best Liquor Store (This one is simply laughable - no one in town is even remotely close to the LB in any way, shape or form)

1) Old Town Wine and Spirits

2) Liquor Barn

3) Westport Whiskey and Wine

Best Pizza (In two years of searching for the best pizza in The 'Ville, I have never EVER heard anyone mention "Wick's" and "Best" in the same sentence).

1) Wick’s Pizza

2) BoomBozz Pizza

3) Papalinos NY Pizzaria

Best Burger (Haven't tried #3 but the other two wouldn't even make my top 10 list. Shady Lane, Five Guys, Homerun and New Direction ALL top #1 and #2)

1) W.W. Cousins

2) Bristol

3) Jack Fry’s

Best BBQ (#1 is a perfect example of either (A) Ballot Box stuffing or (B) people who think life ends at the Watterson. I can think of at least 3 joints on the East side alone that blow every one of these places out of the water)

1) F.A.B.D.
(Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot)

2) Mark’s Feed Store

3) Smoketown USA

Best Wings (Never tried the wings at any of these places. Don't need to because it is impossible to make better wings than Rooties...period).

1) Rumors

2) Shack in the Back BBQ

3) Spring Street Bar & Grill

...and if I were a conspiracy theorist, I would ad "D" to my previous post...LEO thinks they have a better shot at selling <fill in blank A> a "best of" ad in the next issue than they do selling <fill in the blank B> an ad...So they <eh-hemmm> make darn sure that Blank "A" gets the nod.

You should give the Jerk wings at Cumberland and the buffalo wings at Spring St. a try. They are both fantastic. I've never had the wings at Shack in the Back, but Rumors should not be on the list.

Rooties, Cumberland, and Spring St in any order you wish would have made me happy.

As time marches on and I become more familiar with my surroundings, I DO have to admit a certain bias creeping into my dining opinions...together with a certain amount of laziness when it comes to dining out. I live in the OC...not the Highlands. So when I want wings (for example) I simply pop down to Rooties for the best in town. Same thing can be said for a lot of things. Burgers...I've got New Direction and Shady Lane right down the road. Why should I waste time driving into the city. Deli ? Fracheli's and Red Pepper are both within 5 minutes of the house and (IMHO) are at a minimum in the same league with Joe Davalo's, Stevens and Steven's, etc. Irish ?...We've got a "Rover" in La Grange. Mexican ? El Azteca in La Grange is every bit the equal of any Tex-Mex I've had in town. Not saying there can't be better or there can't be equal...just that people out this direction don't REALLY need to feel like second fiddles, we've got some pretty fair dining options that are every bit as tasty and a helluva lot more convenient.

Hold your horses there !!.........does LB give out doggie treats at their drive thru ??, ...my German Sheperd puppy makes it a point now to go to Old Town at least once a week :D ...just gives me another reason to frequent their business

Best Liquor Store:
1) Old Town Wine and Spirits
2) Liquor Barn
3) Westport Whiskey and Wine
These are probably the top three in town but Westport in my opinion have a much better staff and they do great tastings! LB is just that in my opinion a large barn, they have a huge inventory but nothing really exciting.

Best Burger:
1) W.W. Cousins
2) Bristol
3) Jack Fry’s
Number one is certainly wrong and overall the list is boring. There's so many good and interesting burgers in town.

Best Breakfast/Brunch
1) Wild Eggs
2) Toast
3) North End Café
This category is probably the closest to be right of any of them.

Best Place for a Romantic Dinner
1) English Grill
2) Jack Fry’s
3) Le Relais
OK Jack Fry's has great food but I can hardly be considered romantic. It's definitely too crowded and noisy to even be in this category.

Of course there are many other categories where the choices are questionable to say the least! Many places that should have made the list such as Jack's, Equus, Z's, etc didn't make the list at all? While others like Mike Linning's, Kingfish etc that had no business making the list did. Just goes to show that this list really has no connection to reality.

I have no problem with this poll as long as they remove "Best" from the article. Replace it with "Favorite".

Until they eliminate "ballot stuffing" (which they never will) I'm not even buying "favorite". In LEO's defense we aren't the only city guilty of conducting such B.S. polls...I've seen these polls in every city I've ever lived and they were just about as reliable of a barometer there as they are here. The sad thing is that there ARE people/places on this poll who are truly deserving of the recognition of "Best of"...Unfortunately this recognition is cheapened by some of the really goofy results. I mean Cafe Lou-Lou ranked as one of the best "Cajun" restaurants and no mention of Selena's. Good Lord.

I would be interested in your list of best BBQ places. Car to start a thread?
