La Rosita's: The new location starts Wednesday the 22nd.

by Roger A. Baylor » Tue Sep 21, 2010 6:58 pm

The moving trucks have been back and forth all day, and according to the sign at the E. Market shop, which is no more, La Rosita is opening at its impressive new Pearl Street location on Wednesday, September 22.

To put it mildly, I'm excited. It's at the corner of Spring and Pearl, and it's going to be one of the most critical pieces in the puzzle downtown ... and I'm going to gain a lot of weight if I'm not careful.

We peered in the windows after lunch at Artesia yesterday. All they had left was moving the tables into place. Did they decide which beers we are delivering? Lunch tomorrow!

Will there be any outdoor seating? Those couple of little tables out front are part of why I dine there.

Not sure about the dining out, but there's room for it on the sidewalk.

How exciting and I do believe they will have a full liquor license now as well...so bring on the margarita's !! While mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen anymore this place is a cut above the rest in my opinion - I wish them much success in there new location. I know we'll be adding some miles on the car visiting Indiana for this tasty treat !!! :D

Join the club, buddy. Downtown N.A. has had a bit of a revolving door with some addresses but seems to be getting a critical mass together. Not to call it a restaurant row but maybe a credible restaurant district. Also, people pouring out of the "Y" need to go someplace to make up for exercising! There must be six or eight indy options within an easy few blocks. Probably somebody on the sunny side with an interest will enumerate them...right, Roger?

Just in time for Harvest Homecoming!
I'm curious to see what they have done with the place.
Some of my early childhood memories are shopping there with my mother when it was Grant's Dept. Store and the old Fair Store where Toast is now.

Mine too. I bought my first pair of Levi's in the Fair Store. Seventh grade!

I'm pleased to say that nowadays, I can't list these quickly and easily.

Using the YMCA as perspective ...

On State: Wick's, Hobknobb Coffee
On Main (going west): Jackson's Seafood, Downtown Diner
On Main (east): Patticakes & Pies, The Irish Exit (coming Oct. 1 in Studio's old space), Steinert's Grill & Pub
On Market between State and Bank: Toast on Market, La Bocca, Habana Blues, Artesia (newly opened for lunch) and Little Chef
On Pearl: River City Winery, La Rosita's (opening Wed.)
On Bank: Bank Street Brewhouse

From the Y, all of these are in easy walking distance. All are indies. Sometimes I can't believe it myself.

What about The Windsor? There hasn't been any news about them lately.

We tried to enter today at 11 AM. Israel told us that they will open today at 5 PM and will have some free appetizers.

Same here. We had both brew crews and were rejected. We did rebound at Habana Blue for another good lunch. It is beyond cool that we have so many choices in walking distance.
