New C....C....CCCHAIN!! ( Sorry Robin!!)

by Suzi Bernert » Thu Jul 26, 2007 10:16 pm

From the CJ today:

Ohio restaurant chain coming to roost in Louisville area
BC Roosters restaurant, which specializes in chicken wings, is opening its first store in Louisville on Monday at 7405 Preston Highway in Okolona.

It is the first of five stores the restaurant plans to open in the Louisville area in the next three years.

"After 18 years of flourishing as owner-operators of the best chicken wing joint in central Ohio, we decided to share our concept with the rest of the world," said Robert Gauthier, owner of the new Okolona BC Roosters. It will be the first BC Roosters outside Ohio.

Gauthier characterized it as a "fun, casual, family restaurant."

Louisville Metro Council member Madonna Flood said BC Roosters will occupy a building that formerly housed a Ryan's restaurant.

"I always have folks asking for close, affordable restaurants," she said.

The new BC Roosters will feature 35 plasma TVs and an average menu  item price below $6.99.

BC Roosters will be open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.- 1 a.m.

Roosters?

by Rob Cornelius » Thu Jul 26, 2007 10:31 pm

Ate in one of these last night in Lancaster, Ohio, owing to it having wireless service. Sort of like Moby Dick in that they like to be in 20-year-old locations around Ohio abandoned by other bottom feeders of the sit-down trade. My meal last night happened in a location that had about 10 years in as a Roosters and the prior 15-20 as a Frischs. Menu price points, though, are a little lower than Hooters and you get a lot for your money. It is what it is. I won't take the wife there, but my friends won't mind watching a Bengals game over cheap pitchers, and this one is pretty close to me in 40229.

No need to be sorry. The guys who couldn't understand the nuances of chain issue seem to have gone on down the road. ;)

Food & Dining is all over this, and I should have posted here. The CJ story is basically accurate, but the chain, even in its own advertising, rarely uses the full name. It generally goes by just-plain "Roosters" and doesn't even put the BC in the Website address:
http://www.roosterswings.com

I luvs wings ... just had me a plate of Wort Hog Wings at BBC St Matthews tonight, along with a delicious Munich Helles. I'll get out to Roosters as soon as I can.

My boss and I ate there last week. The chicken wings were very tasty and not as messy as the other place that has been around and is alot like Roosters. We ordered the wings HOT and they were just the right temp and were big. I would highly recommend Roosters

Ate there first time tonight. Restaurant was packed and the kitchen was slow, thirty plus minutes for an order of wings. They were big, a little too big. A few of the larger pieces would have benefited from a few more minutes in the fryer. The place looks exactly like Hooter's without the orange shorts, but their menu is a little more diverse and budget friendly. They had some good looking nine inch pizzas priced between five and seven dollars.

I don't know if the larger birds are tougher or if it was due to the fact that the wings were undercooked, but I can't manage that pinch and slide trick on the large size flappers. At seventy cents a pop I appreciate the extra weight, but wings should be able to be eaten quickly and in large quantities.

We went last night as a family. The wings were Hooter's wings on steroids. They were well worth the trip. The other food was far from memorable, however. If you are in the mood for chicken wings, fries and a cold beer, this place is certainly worth looking into. If you want something a little more exotic, don't expect too much.
