NuLu Festival Saturday, Oct. 2

by Robin Garr » Thu Sep 16, 2010 5:00 pm

Hmm. I wonder if they intentionally put this on St. James Court weekend, figuring people would hit both, or if they overlooked the coincidence ... I could see it either way.

The East Market District, known as NuLu, has announced its 2nd annual NuLu Festival on Saturday, Oct. 2, from 2-11 p.m. The festival features “all things local” and offers live music, micro-brewed beers, food and shopping by and from local vendors and participants. The festival will take place in the 700 block of East Market Street, and all festivities are family-friendly and free. Live bands will include Love Jones, Lucky Pineapple, The Fervor, The Instruction and The Pass.

Local food offerings include the Proof Gelato Cart, lamb kebabs by Crushed Ice Events, paninis by The Bodega at Felice, desserts by Cake Flour, gourmet waffles and hot dogs, a first-ever dinner experience at Toast on Market, and more. 732 Social will feature a special menu for the day and serve to-go versions of some dishes. Louisville Beer Store will host its first annual Oktoberfest and showcase local craft beers. The festival features a free Kids Corner with fun family activities, including The Bubble Truck, face painting, appearances by local mascots, and water activities by Louisville Water Company.

For more information on being involved with or attending the festival, visit www.nulufest.com.

About NuLu

The East Market District, also referred to as NuLu, is now best known for its art galleries, specialty stores, antique shops and a growing number of local, upscale restaurants. The term “NuLu” is a portmanteau meaning “New Louisville”. As home to Louisville’s first downtown LEED certified commercial building (and three additional projects seeking LEED certification), many historic restoration projects, as well as several restaurants offering organic and locally sourced ingredients, NuLu has emerged with a culture of sustainability.

Visit www.eastmarketdistrict.com for more information.

This is today!! I am selling the most insane hot dog I could come up with. It rules!

FOUR WAY PORK. All beef hot dog, pork bbq with a touch of homemade bbq sauce, bacon, chicharron, roasted red onion, jalapeno relish, garlic or chipotle aioli, roasted red pepper spread (ajvar), mustard, cilantro, parsley... all on one dog.

It's out of control.

I would love to meet some of the folks on here so if you come down, please look for the blue and orange umbrella/hot dog stand, stop by and say hello! Cheers!

There you go, my point exactly. All this has to go on the dog to cover up the taste of the processed minced crap with emulsifiers, additives etc!!! lol

I don't get it. Why not go with a pig dog and make it a five-way? Or would that just be coarse and unrefined?

I didn't want to make any other topping feel left out and jealous so I left it a four way. Doh!

Four way, I'm only seeing 3.

This is most empathetically not a Chicago Dog as it violates the sacred canon.

Paradoxical or not, that four-way dog saved me from delirium whilst serving the masses at LBS Saturday night; I didn't have time to sample the lamb stew that made its way behind the bar. Anyone else have it? It smelled delightful.

Do you sell these somewhere every weekend or was this a one time deal? The rain and cold snap preventing me from getting one.

I would do it again at an event. During the week on 6th and Chestnut I sell the normal fare. It is the events where I go crazy.
