Freshwater Prawns

Now that it's getting to be local-freshwater-prawn season (see http://forums.louisvillehotbytes.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11909), does anyone know whether any Louisville restaurants will be serving them up?

Freshwater Shrimp at the Market

This Saturday, September 18, graduate students in the Kentucky State University Aquaculture Program will be at the market. They will be selling fresh, whole, freshwater shrimp on ice at $8 per pound.

The freshwater shrimp, or prawn, is listed as a Best Choice by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch.

All of the money made from this sale goes to the Aquaculture graduate student organization for travel expenses to conferences to present research and for field trips to enhance their educational experience while at KSU. To find out more about the program, go to: KSU Aquaculture.

They recommend that customers bring a cooler with ice to preserve freshness.
