New Alley Cat Fav

by Gayle DeM » Mon Sep 13, 2010 1:01 pm

I have a new favorite sandwich at the Alley Cat in Middletown: grilled turkey, brie, strawberries, pepper jelly and spinach on asiago bread. Heaven! :D I admit that it is a twist on my old fav (turkey, brie, sliced Granny Smith apples, chutney and spinach on asiaigo), but this new riff is amazing and also one of the messiest I've ever eaten,. It was a three napkin sanwich! I had half a sandwich with a cup of soup (asparagus mushroom) and an oatmeal/macadamia cookie all for $8.50 plus tax and gratuity. If you are drooling, I must warn you that both the sandwich and the soup were daily specials.

The Alley Cat is one of the best! I haven't been there for ages, Gayle. Glad to know it still gets the job done. :)

Deb, I think it is called Middletown Plaza. Anyway, it isthe one that contains Ben Franklin and Auto Zone. Alley Cat is directly across from Auto Zone.

11804 Old Shelbyville Road, on the back of a shopping center that faces US 60 a few blocks west of Evergreen. Here's a positively ancient review (2003), but I really liked it then, and I hope it hasn't changed much. I need to go back.
