After not being in the mood to deal with the wait at El Mundo, we moved on to Cafe Classico for dinner last night. All was good, service was about what it usually is there (one overwhelmed server for the packed dining room doing all she can to keep up and doing an acceptable job of it), but I had to comment quickly on the risotto dish.
The Saffron Asiago Risotta Cakes are three (or two if you get the half order) crispy-on-the-outside-chewy-yet-delicate-on-the-inside risotto cakes topped with asiago cheese and a light hint of saffron. They come perched on top of a lima bean succotash in a light broth that is incredibly flavorful, with almost a light meaty flavor. A good portion of wilted spinach is nestled between the risotto cakes.
This was really, for me, a perfectly executed dish. There were a myriad of flavors and textures happening at once, and I must have told my wife 10 times that the dish was just, well, perfect. A+.
