Which sports bars will have the UK game on Saturday?

by Adam Smith » Wed Sep 08, 2010 9:59 pm

Wondering if anyone knows which sports bar(s) will have the UK game on Saturday night? It's on Comcast College Sports channel which I don't have on DirecTV. I suppose I could call around but it's easier to ask here.

I'm thinking that's a real possibility. I liked the wings when we went before. Not too keen on paying $6 a pint, but it is what it is.

The game will be shown on ESPN Game Plan on DirecTV...Channel TBA. This is a premium package and not all DirecTV customers get it...you must subscribe to "Game Plan". Given that bars pay for a fee for EACH television that is subscribed to this premium service, I'm not sure how many...if any...carry the package in The Ville. As most people are aware a lot of bars carry "Sunday Ticket" now...it is extremely expensive for them to do so. Thus some bars might not want to pull the trigger on "Game Plan". FYI the L'ville vs E/KY game is also on Game Plan...channel TBA.

If anyone finds a bar with Game Plan...post it here.

There's got to be bars that shell out the money. We are talking about UK and UL here, in a college town. I'd have to think that it can't be that hard to find, although you might end up somewhere like BW3's. In "today's day and age," I can't imagine not being able to see the local teams.

The Louisville Athletic Website lists WHAS as the carrier. I'm sure there's some agreement about local coverage if the game ends up on some obscure channel. Prob helps that WHAS is an ABC channel and both ABC and ESPN are Disney holdings. Or maybe i am reading too much into it. Either way, it's going to be on WHAS. Like I said, there's just no way it wouldn't be available.

As for UK, who knows. I actually like UK on the radio.

Yea, Gameplan is 3 payments of 44.99, so I should've said it's not on MY DirecTV, lol...

The UK/WKU game is on locally in Lexington and Bowling Green, the UL/EKU game is on locally in Louisville and whatever city EKU is in.

I know Joe's Older Than Dirt has Gameplan because we saw a game there not on locally last year and they had big screens out on the patio so we could smoke cigars. Decent beer selection too, however the food there isn't very good at all. As for the UL game, it will be on at every bar, but who cares about UL??? 8)

If anyone wants to meet up at Joe's we'll be there! Thanks guys!

I'm fairly certain the new place , Bungalow Joe's, in Fern Creek will be showing the game. Every time I pass the place ; it's packed. They are supposed to start their full menu Sept 10th.

I would wager that the only bar in the city dedicated to the beloved cats, Big Blue Country on Baxter, will be showing it. I've heard the food it pretty good there too.

14oz swill is $3.50
14oz Hoptimus is $4.50 (Cheapest I've found)

I was fearful of the beer prices after reading the inital reviews, but they were either wrong or the prices have changed. Their house beer, Kentucky Ale, and Hoptimus are all $4.50 for a 14oz and I believe $5.50 for a 20oz. The 20oz swills were $4.50. This is where I think the overpriced beer talk came from. Maybe people were getting charged for 20oz beers instead of the 14oz they ordered.

Pool is $1 a game.

I know my dad and I had Newcastle and Guinness, and they were 5.50 each.
