You may recall that Christina, the daughter of forumites Linda and Mark Bayens, received a lung transplant, and the popular Naked Chefs calendar was published as a fund-raiser for her.

Velocity has a nice story about her today:
Christina Bayens

Sadly, the Gannett anti-LEO didn't see fit to mention that the calendars are still on sale! Although the year is half over now, the pictures are just as pretty ;) and make a great souvenir. I understand that a few folks have taken to carrying the calendar around town when they dine and asking each featured chef to autograph his or her page.

The price is down to $5 (plus $2 for shipping), and they may be ordered online on LouisvilleHotBytes.com:

At this point we aren't planning one for next year (2008). But if we find the interest is there we are game to do them each year to help another person who has fallen "between the cracks" of the system as we did.

To summarize the situation we found ourselves in: if we both worked we didn't qualify for any financial help with Christina's out of pocket medical expenses which at times were in the thousands of dollars each month. We were told for me to divorce Mark, go on welfare, and that would qualify us for free medical care for Christina and her needs. But we refused to play the system that way!

Not meaning to sound like a broken record, we are so grateful to everyone who supported us, both emotionally and financially, with the fundraiser and the calendar as well as donations! And our "calendar guys and girls". You all have been awesome!

Geez ... I was thinking last night how I can't wait for August (no offense, Anthony - we've covered this in another thread!), and I don't even know who is on August's page! I'm just hoping for a gal ...

Mr. August is Dan Thomas who is at Big Springs Country Club!

I bet he'll be shaking things up at "the club" next month!

Gotta wait for the colder months for a girl. Sorry!
