Corbetts and Equus/Jacks celebrate Kentucky Bourbon Heritage

by Robin Garr » Thu Sep 02, 2010 4:22 pm

In celebration of National Bourbon Heritage Month, Corbett’s: An American Place and Equus & Jack’s Lounge plan to commemorate Kentucky’s historic potion.

At Equus & Jack’s Lounge, look for bourbon drink and food specials throughout September. Mixologist Joy Perrine will offer her award-winning Bourbonball cocktail, featuring Woodford Reserve, Tuaca and dark crème de cacao, $12. Other bourbon cocktails and favorite bourbon drinks like the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan will also be available.

Chef Dallas McGarity plans specials with a bourbon flavor, such as pork duo with pulled pork, bourbon barbecue sauce and wilted greens, and fried center-cut pork chop with bourbon whipped sweet potatoes and an apple-raisin-bourbon chutney. There'll be bourbon-inspired desserts, too. For more information, call 897-9721.

Corbett’s: An American Place will host a bourbon dinner Thursday, Sept. 30. Sponsored by Woodford Reserve, the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include a five-course prix fixe menu prepared by chef Chris Howerton. Guest bartender Joy Perrine will create and pair signature bourbon cocktails with each course. Bourbon expert Mike Beach of the Filson Society will also be there, discussing the history of bourbon and answering questions about the liquor. The event is $100 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required. For more information or to reserve your table, call 327-5058.
