Breaking News!!!

by Rick G » Tue Aug 31, 2010 10:53 pm

Here we go again!!!!!! Five Points in St. Matthews has another owner coming in mid-September or the first part of October. Majid of Saffrons and Volare fame will be the next person to try their hand at the old Rick's location. It seems nothing has really worked there since Rick left to open Blackstone Grill in Prospect. If anyone can make a go at this spot Majid has a better shot than anyone since Rick's.
Majid is or has sold Saffrons downtown and is opening a similar type place at this location. More details to come.

Wow! I hate to see him let go of Saffrons, but I totally agree with Rick, if anyone can make a go of the old Rick's, it is Majid.

My theory about that place is that, since Rick left, they've been trying to do just enough restaurant to keep their liquor license.

That would make sense.

The more I think about this, the more I find it fascinating. There are just so many angles and ways he could take this...

Like close and reopen under a new name just before the next ABC audit is due? ;)

I just ran into Majid and Bobby Johnson grabbing sandwiches in Paul's. Majid said he plans to open Dec. 1st. and that he will serve Mediterranean and American foods. Bobby said he's going to play there on occasion. :D
