Anyone been out to Eva Mae's Creekside lately?

by Robin Garr » Tue Jul 24, 2007 11:33 am

I just got off the horn with Travis Hall, owner-chef of this quaint little spot at 6313 Upper River Road (near Cunninghams) that used to house Willy B's BBQ, and it sounds like he has utterly transformed the place, with a total makeover of the building that opens up the back with a wall of glass and sprawling patios, and turns the inside into a bright, Key West style, with an upscale, destination-dining-room evening menu, more down-home-style lunch, and a very appetizing breakfast menu 8-noon on weekends.

I can't wait to get out there, but until I do, have any of you been out there and if so can you present testimony?

I can attest to the intrigue, Robin. In one of those wierd twist o' fate things I found a cell phone in the parking lot of Prospect Kroger. I checked the call list and found a listing for "Dad", called him and it turns out the phone belongs to one of the cooks at Eva Mae's. I forget the name but he man at the bar called him by an odd nick name when I ran it over there. Looking at the restaurant from the outside it is nothing special but inside is south Florida laid back and smelling good! In fact I think I'll run down there for lunch right now. Thanks for the reminder.

I didn't know that! From the way Travis described what he's trying to do, though, I think you need to get out there ASAP ... and so do I.

Note, by the way, that Eva Mae's distinctly changes personality depending on the hour of the day: down-home at lunch, more of an upscale menu (sounded just like Frankfort Avenue) at dinner, and a very fancy breakfast (lobster Benedict!) from 8-12 on Saturday AND Sunday (I think).

Love Travis and Greg Hall! Have not been to Eva's since last summer but all was good then. Sounds like they have a new menu since then...?

I think so ... new dinner menu, with china and linen. And Travis said he's rolling out another menu revision this week.
