Papalino's still excellent

As if there were any doubt! Had a quick slice for lunch and it was as addictive as always. And the place was slammed.

It's never any different and for good reason. Since their opening I haven't had another slice of pie in Louisville.

We also went there for lunch today and yes it was slammed. The pizza was very good, but it took 35 minutes for our slices. We ordered at 12:56 (from our receipt) and did not get them until 1:30.

Sara-
That is waaay too long for a slice of pie. Did they warn you of the delay? If so, good on them. If not, shame on them.

Sara, we were there at the same time. My ticket time was 12:49. Hotbyters need some sort of aura so we recognize each other!

No, they didn't warn us. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to talk my co-workers into returning. We work downtown, so the 10 min drive, 10 min in line, 35 min for food, 15 min to eat, then 15 min drive back (got stuck in arena construction) turned into about a 1.5 hour lunch, just for a piece of pizza. Especially when Luigi's is in walking distrance from our office. I went in after 20 minutes to check on our order and was told "Your buzzer will go off when your pizza is ready". Not very helpful, but luckily when I was going in to check the second time, it went off in my hand.

The pizza was still good though, I had ham and pineapple.

Too funny! It's a great place to sit outside and eat. The weather was perfect.

Ack! I was perched at the window counter near the drink machine and saw that slice go by!

The wait time for a slice is longer than the time I am willing to wait for a slice. Quality be damned. But hey, long wait time means business must be strong. That is all.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

<---- thinks it's the best pizza in town..

...unfortunately, have passed it up the past two times i've stumbled out of O'Shea's, b/c the wait is RIDICULOUS.

Yes, the place is slammed........but I've waited 30-40 minutes for a SLICE on more than one occasion on a late Saturday night post-bar, and that's just silly.

I don't see why "being busy" is much of an excuse, really. A business that's booming, and knows they'll be booming (especially on Fri/Sat bar nights) should be able to figure out a way to produce a quality slice of pizza in a reasonable amount of time.

At least you can stare at the hilariously tacky Godfather/Goodfellas/Scarface/Sopranos composite painting while you're waiting.

So today, when I mentioned to DH that I went to Papalino's yesterday for lunch (while he was at work) he immediately thought that I owed him Papalino's today for lunch. So we both went today. Arrived a few minutes before noon, no line, 5 minutes from order to slice in hand. Got the lunch special - slice, drink, Italian ice, $5.

Since our first Papalino's visit, we were hooked. My parents were in visiting from Queens, NY last weekend and we took them for lunch on Saturday. I know they were both so skeptical of our claims that this is, without question, the best pizza in Louisville AND the closest we have had to pizza from home. We sat outside and drank some yummy Brooklyn Beer while we waited about 15 minutes for our food. They were blown away with how delicious and NY-ish the pizza was. My go-to slice is spinach and meatballs and Mike's is sausage and mushroom. I actually create new reasons every week why we need to go to the Highlands and, coincidentally, it always seems to be right around meal time.

*note to self - need to stop at Copycat for some video duplication on Friday... :D

Just got back from Papalino's, and they now have a sign stating the wait times for slices, pies, calzones, etc. 15 minutes was the stated wait time for a slice at 3PM today, but they were pretty dead. A friend said he waited nearly an hour for a calzone this weekend.
