Rumor's Seafood

by MarieP » Wed Aug 25, 2010 10:54 pm

Long overdue post, I know...

I visited Rumor's a couple weeks ago, and it was a very tasty meal! I had grilled grouper, Cajun rice, salad, and parmesan bread. The best part of the meal was the bread- wow...I wish they served this by the basket and individually with the meal, though they do give you two rather large slices. The grouper was nicely seasoned, though it didn't taste as fresh as I've had elsewhere. I plan on trying the grouper at Seafood Connection next time I go! The rice was tasty, not mild nor overly spicy, and the salad was decent. It was mainly romaine, with some iceburg thrown in. The dressing (lite Italian herb) was very nice, and there is a rather long list of dressings from which to choose. I also enjoyed a piece of tangy Key Lime pie. Their sangria was also a real treat (though I like Havana Rumba's best)- they use blackberry merlot as the base with Limon, peach schnapps, cherry brandy, and orange juice.

Thanks for the post, Marie! Good review about a local spot that doesn't often get attention here. :)

Great post. I enjoy the place, although I wish their wings were a little more on the meatier side. But, they are still quite good.

It's funny how two visits to the same place can be so different.

I went to Rumor's a few weeks ago with my two teen-age children (14 & 17). When we got there, we stood around for a bit until I asked someone behind the bar if we were supposed to wait to be seated or seat ourselves. She yelled for someone to come help us and we were then shown to a table in the front section of the restaurant.

After we had ordered and gotten our appetizers and salads but before the main course a couple of men came in and sat at the bar in the room we were in. One of them was clearly intoxicated. He was speaking loudly and dropping lots of f-bombs. In spite of this, no one from the restaurant asked him to keep it down and the bartender kept serving him more beer.

My fish was overcooked and chewy. My kids said their food was okay but not worth a return trip.

Glad to have your review, too, Marybeth! If everybody tells it the way they saw it, we can get a full picture. Thanks for sharing, and sorry your experience wasn't super.
