Casey, I'm pretty sure they have Sunday brunch now, but I'm not absolutely positive. I assume regular brunch hours (midday), but best to call,

GO THERE NOW!!!

Yes, we just got back from Mojito's Sunday brunch and it is fab-u-lous. An incrediable array of food, each dish tastier than the last. Hubby just kept saying mmmm as he forked in chicken, pork asado, garlic mashed potatoes, and sun dried tomato polenta. I answered similarly between mouthfuls of the polenta, potatoes, a three inch high omelet filled with sun dried tomatoes and spinach and possibly goat cheese, ginger honey salmon and caprese salad. We are the most stimulating conversationalists . . .

Then second plates were devoted to salads--a hearts of palm with field greens and feta, plus another with the greens, feta, cherry tomatoes and candied walnuts.

Third plates were dessert. Mojito is really funny with those tiny dessert plates. harumpf. Anyway, we snagged slices of the flan and a bit of key lime tart.

Everything was accompanied by fresh iced tea, constantly kept refilled. Plates were wisked away promptly.

At $15.99 pp (plus drink) I really don't know how they make a profit with what I estimate to be food costs. But then I always say the same thing about the prices at Havana Rumba. For that price I seriously would have expected about half the choices.

Although we didn't have any, there was a beautiful stuffed pork roast and a stuffed roast beef. Don't see those kinds of things very often.

We have to go back to sample what we couldn't fit in this visit.

I went today as well.....and agree, it is everything you say and more. And the dessert selection was to die for. A fantastic experience, and a reasonable price.

For the record, they are open from 10:00 - 3:00 on Sundays.......

Thank you so much, Lea, Bill and Casey. I'm so happy that you enjoyed our brunch. I have a question for you guys. Is this area a brunch area or do people like ordering from a regular menu I'm kind of confused that's why I ask, we had some people wanting to order from the regular menu so I don't know if we should keep doing the brunch buffet or just the regular menu. Any input will be welcome. Fernando Martinez.

Worth the drive

by Casey J. » Mon Jul 23, 2007 2:59 pm

I drive from Elizabethtown to Louisville a few times a week for meals. We will make Mojitos a regular stop either way, but we really enjoyed the variety the brunch buffet offered. Thanks again for a great meal.

Fernando, we had a similar situation when we switched from a menu service brunch to a brunch buffet. For the first serveral weeks after we switched, we had about 1/4 of our customers looking for menu service. When they found out we only offered the buffet option, we did lose some customers and that caused us to question if we made the right choice. After a week or two of offering a VERY limited menu AND the buffet, if just became too confusing to guests and too taxing on our kitchen. Some guests would look at the menu and just want to order a plate of food from the buffet. And some would want items not on our menu and then drop the "they did it for me last week" line. After we made the commitment to do buffet only on Sundays and stuck to it, we were VERY pleased with the results. We found after a few weeks we hardly had anybody come in looking for menu service and those who did usually decided to stay and try the buffet. Some of our most loyal Sunday customers were people who didn't want the buffet the first time they came in! We've been very pleased with the performance of the buffet since we switched in early March. It sounds like you have a wonderful product(LeahS is my Mother-in-Law and raved about it all afternoon!). Stick to your guns and the guests will come around!

Sorry for the long post!

Menu vs. Pig Out

by Bill Veneman » Mon Jul 23, 2007 3:43 pm

Fernando, in all honesty, I MUCH prefer (as do many that I know) the choice a brunch buffet offers. I will go to a buffet and try it before I will go and do menu service, if that option is available.

I've not had the pleasure of dining off your menu yet (it is on the radar, just hasn't happened yet), but if the menu offerings are as plentiful as the buffet, I'll be in heaven.

I must confess, I made a pig out of myself yesterday...the selection was wonderful. I could have grazed on the Shrimp and that divine cocktail sauce all day long.

I might recommend more finger things like the Empanadas (OH MY, they were tasty). I was expecting more of that type of fare, and was delighted with what I found.

And I loved the light assortment of salads (the Mediterranean Salad and dressing were FAB as well). It was indeed a bit of taste bud overload.

There was one thing on the dessert line that I couldn't identify, but it was DELECIOUS...it looked like a cookie that had been soaked in something, and it had a bit of a cinnamon taste to it.

I know that I've found a new Sunday Brunch place.....and have been talking it up to all who will listen.

I guess brunch at Mojito yesterday was the hot ticket! My wife and I took a friend to brunch there yesterday as well. We sat outside and enjoyed the fantastic weather and even better food. The three of us raved about it the rest of the day. It was wonderful. The buffet was carefully watched and everything stayed fresh. The selection was great and I will definitely return. The only small flaw I noticed was the stuffed pork loin at the carving station was a little bit dry.
In response to your question about whether to serve brunch or regular menu; I will offer an answer from a strictly selfish perspective. I think that Sunday brunch is a really good way to go. For me brunch is a uniquely Sunday experience and having a brunch as good as the one I enjoyed yesterday on beautiful lazy Sunday afternoon is not an option I want to lose! I also enjoy the brunch option because it allows me to see how talented and versatile you (and the kitchen staff) really are because we get to see items that are not on the everyday menu and they are still executed very well.

Thank you again guys. I guess you all answered my question, brunch buffet it is. Sorry about the pork Jeremy is really hard to keep something juicy for a while under a heating lamp, but I know what to do to fix it, thank you for your input.

Bill what you are talking about is call Toreja and it's the Cuban take on French toast, we use stale bread soak it in wine, condensed milk, cinnamon then we cook it like a French toast. Then we make what we call almibar (sweet syrup made with star anise) and we poured over the torejas. I'm glad you liked it. Fernando Martinez

Thank you for the input Les. I'm going to keep the brunch buffet and see what happens; I guess it's just a matter of time for people to find out that we are doing Sunday Brunch. Hopefully we gain a few more customers. Fernando.
