Field-to-Fork Fundraiser- Sept. 23rd: Almost Soldout

by Deb Hall » Tue Aug 17, 2010 8:36 pm

All,

Announcing it here first! Tickets are going on sale this evening for the Field- to- Fork Fundraiser to benefit the Food Literacy Project. The Louisville Chapter of the ACF has been the driver behind this fundraiser ( Thanks to Dan Thomas!), and attendees will enjoy a very special, seasonal menu to celebrate a very worthy cause.

Press Release to follow- here's a sneak peak:

Join us Thursday, September 23rd at Park Place for an elegant six-course dinner prepared by Louisville's top culinary talent paired with local farmers, using the best ingredients of the harvest season. Funds from the event will benefit the Food Literacy Project, a local non-profit organization providing Louisville youth the opportunity to experience a working farm where they connect with sustainable food and the people who grow it.

All proceeds will help develop an outdoor kitchen on Oxmoor Farm where FLP participants can develop recipes with farm-fresh vegetables. Your purchase helps us bring the Field-to-Fork experience to life for Louisville youth!

Advance tickets are required, and are for sale until September 19th. Tickets can be ordered on-line at: http://www.foodliteracyproject.org. To pay by cash or check, please call the Food Literacy Project at 502-491-0072.

For those not familiar with the Food Literacy project, here's a little bit about our work:

The Food Literacy Project is a local non-profit which does hands-on agricultural education programs on the farm for school and community groups, as well as professional development for educators.

Its mission is "to inspire Louisville residents to make food choices that sustain their bodies, their communities and the earth through educational programs and technical assistance offered in partnership with a local vegetable farm." Much of their work is with kids on the West End in the so-calld "Food Desert," sections of the city relatively poorly served by groceries and quality food outlets, educating them about where their food comes from. More information is on the organization's website:
http://www.foodliteracyproject.org

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Some of the participating chefs for this event are myself, Dallas McGarity of Equus/Jack's, Michael Hargrove of L & N Bistro, Allan Rosenberg of Papalino's Pizzeria, Marsha Lynch and Jim Quinter of Sullivan University, Jay Denham of Woodland Pork and Nancy Russman of J.C.C.

A complete line-up of participating chefs, farms and menu will be announced soon.
This will be a great opportunity to try several courses of locally grown food, masterfully prepared, for a worthy cause!

Many heartfelt thanks to Robin for being our Media Sponsor for this event. He won't toot his own horn, so I will: We now have ads on this site and he's working with Leo on some potential coverage. This is huge for our small organization, and should greatly contribute to our ability to fill the house for this great event.

Click on the ads to get your tickets, folks!

Thanks again, Robiin.

We are so excited to be hosting such a fantastic event-- the line up of chefs is impressive! Look forward to seeing lots of Forum Friends at the Fundraiser. For the ticket price, you really can't beat this great event & cause.

Thank you to Dan, Deb and many , many other people who are working hard to make this happen.

I see cocktails with hors d'oeuvres, but is wine paired with any courses or is wine available for purchase at the event?

Looks like a great event.

Thanks-Doug
