any reviews of Indi's?

by Ginger Harris » Fri Aug 13, 2010 12:48 pm

I need to stop and pick up something tonight for a picnic dinner. How's their chicken, and more importantly, perhaps, their sides? Anything else good in the downtown area?

I reviewed it waaaaaay back in the day, Ginger, but I doubt the review is still around. Indi's certainly makes credible soul-food dishes including fried chicken, though. Cottage Inn at Eastern Parkway and Bradley, near U of L, makes amazing fried chicken, but I don't know if that's near enough downtown for you.

I eat at the Broadway location about once a month and love it. The spicy fried chicken and jumbo potato wedges are awesome.

Indi's would be fine for a picnic. I also like Popeyes. Indi's does have a good choice of sides however since you mention that is important. Greens, potato wedges, mac/cheese, green beans, etc. As well as cobblers for dessert.

We love Indi's. We've been getting the chicken for years for tailgating. I really love the spicy chicken and you can't beat the prices. We haven't gotten the sides very often, other than the spicy potato wedges. Now I need an Indi's fix!

Thanks for the quick replies- I think I will head there after work, and I will try and remember to post my review afterwards.

FYI: I think they are cash only.

Not necessarily true. The one on Fern Valley Road takes debit cards. The hubby and I stopped there over the weekend to grab some food to take to a pool party. Not sure about the other locations.

LOVE Indi's! Great chicken and awesome potato wedges! Indi's was a weekly stop for us back in college. We would load up the car with just about everything on the menu and head back to the house for all night "study" sessions!

If you have a sinus problem, get the potato wedges. Clear you right up. Love the chicken. A fine and apparently overlooked place.

Not sure whatever happened with this situation. I did look up this property on the pva. Over off Cane Run Road and almost 10k sq ft. Does resemble a compound. Could have been simply they were not reporting all of their income for tax purposes (ie cash).

IRS, DEA raid business owner's restaurant, home

WAVE 3 Investigator

LOUISVILLE (WAVE) -- Federal and local law enforcement agents swarmed a local business and its owner's home Tuesday afternoon, and WAVE 3 was right there as the action unfolded. Around 2 p.m. Tuesday, members of a special task force, raided a home on Kramer Lane and the Indi's fast food restaurant on South Third Street. WAVE 3 Investigator Scott Harvey has the details.

Officials tell us the task force, made up of agents from the DEA, IRS, and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, served federal search warrants at both locations, looking for financial records.

Early in the afternoon, several men at the home on Kramer Lane were questioned by members of the special task force, while more federal agents combed the property.

I lived many a late night wee hours at Indies.Best drunk food in Louisville. I had to give up the spice, way too rough on the bowels the next morning, but I miss them like an old lover.... they are great for cookouts, picnics, etc.. The wedgies are the bomb. The sides come from some frozen soul food franchise, but still not bad.

FROZEN SOUL FOOD would make a great name for a garage band.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.
