French Laundry Reservations?

by Deb Hall » Mon Aug 09, 2010 2:33 pm

2 months from now, Brian and I will be travelling to San Francisco to celebrate my birthday. We've decided to spurge and go to The French Laundry for dinner ( it's on my bucket list) - if we can get a reservation. They only accept reservations " two months to the calendar date" ahead and the reservation line opens at 10:00 PST. I've tried intermittently the past two days, and spent 1/2 an hour at lunch today - I kid you not- calling them 150 times from my iPhone. Now THAT's devotion  .All I've gotten is busy signals. I also tried Open Table in the middle of the night.

Tomorrow's the two month advance for our last day in SF. Anybody figured out a devious way to be able snag a reservation by phone or Open Table timing?
( and no, Brad, getting my picture taken outside is not going to suffice...
Thanks!

I think you have to know someone. I'm serious. One of my closest friends was a pastry chef for Thomas Keller at one time and he basically said you need an "in".

Great stuff, Justin- Thanks! There is actually someone looking for reservation for the day before we arrive posted on that blog.

If nothing else, reading all these posts makes me fell a litlle less fanatical. I've been assured by my good friend Gary that it's well worth it!

Heh. It made a nice picture! Good luck getting a reservation, Deb. I wasn't aware that getting one was so difficult!

It on my list as well Deb. I just dont know if I can ever aford it. Currently at $250p.p. no alcohol i figure that a couple will be pushing $800 to $1000 for dinner. I'll have to wait for my lottery ticket to come in.
Have fun and be sure to give all the details. If you really want to set your mind on dining there watch the Anthony Bourdain segment where he goes with 3 other chefs for dinner. They are served a 20 course tasting. Thats 20 DIFFERENT courses for each guy. 80 different plates!! It is amazing!!

Hey Marsha,
Our dates are Oct. 8th, 9th and 10th. Lunch or dinner, but lunch is preferable as we will have to drive back to SF. You got an in with Keller?

Nope. Please don't get your hopes up. I just thought I'd try, as a project, you know.

Marsha,,
Hopes are not up- but your offer brought a smile on a very long day driving all over rural PA. Nice to have friends!
Thanks a bunch!
