Wow, he's cool!

Check out this guy. I got to hang out with him and some beautifful accomplices the first evening of ToTC.

If he can't light your fire, nobody can!

PS. He's the person who bottled the most expensive offering in the world. $1/2 million a bottle, if memory serves. A blend of 3 vintages, the oldest from 1880. That's what the fella at the beginning of the video is drinking...

PSS. If you pay real close attention, he tells you that next 'thing' in Scotch is finishing with used barrels from other spirits. Tom and he are drinking Alexander III...

:D

(To the scotch people: we all know they been doing this for years. It's a good thing when boss-dog comes out of his cave and affirms the new practice!)

Oh, and he owned that kilt, completely. Worked it. Made me wanna put one on.

Something that just popped into my head- the Nords are on fire right now (I know, Scotsman = not a Nord, but [remember your history = they kinda are!])

The links I hope will stick are here (I'm scared Volker's won't take.)

The music and visual stimulus:

Now, check out these people executing speakeasy, in what appears to be an old aquifer space:

http://www.capri-lounge.com/

I have to simply send you to their site, sorry!

PS. I know, Germans in Cologne. Look closely as their sensibilities, though- Nordic!

Loved loved loved the photos of the Capri Lounge, it looked like my dream bar. Beautiful! I noticed the high profile Blantons has in their inventory. I was familiar with everything they offered except the green bottled labeled "Rochelt" There were 2. What are they?

Actually, this has been around for quite awhile. I have a bottle of single malt that was aged if Sherry casks and another that was aged in Port casks! It actually adds a nice finish without overpowering the flavor of the Scotch.

Centuries. Sherry barrels, Port barrels, and as I understand it, more than a few Kentucky white oak Bourbon barrels (which by law may not be re-used for Bourbon) end up in Scotland.

Austrian Schnapps (they prefer the term Brandy, evidently, or distilled fruit wine.) I'm guessing one is definitely peach. The other may be apple or quince, if I was to speculate. They don't seem like the kind of establishment to keep two of the same exact spirit out fror presentation. I also like some of thier bar toys. And the vintage glassware.

Yeah, Mark, that is so true. The scotch they are drinking is finished in 6 types of barrels. Scotch was probably the last of the spirits I developed a palate for, yet I think most anyone who enjoys American whiskey would appreciate the gentle expression he ends up with.
