Couple of Downtown Notes

I was at Fourth Street Live today for lunch--never go there. Even though it is mostly chain eateries and is not as "local" as I would like, I was amazed by the number of people and the energy there. It's good for downtown.

Kunz's: I would think this would be a great location for a new restaurant--is it too big? Why hasn't it been snatched up yet?

I agree... I work only a few feet from 4SL, and I find myself brining my lunch most of the time. I've tried most of the chains in there (business lunches, etc.) and really haven't been impressed with any of them, especially for the prices you pay. I guess the high rent makes it nearly impossible for locals to set up shop.

The only local places in there (that I know of) are J. Gumbo's and Taipei Cafe. While J. Gumbo's was a little disappointing for me (I didn't have the fortune of trying the original location), Taipei is very good and is usually the only place I will visit at 4SL. It kills me to see people waiting in 50 ft. lines to go to Subway or Wendy's when you can get some excellent food at Taipei without any wait.

The Pub is sorta local, or at least, regional. It's owned by The Tavern Restaurant Group which is, I believe, based out of Cincy.

I, too, recently made my first trip to 4th Street Live ... visited The Pub. Food was so-so, but the White Chocolate Russian was incredible!
