Street Food

by Amy Smalley » Sat Jul 24, 2010 8:48 pm

There recently was a thread on this forum about "what Louisville needs". Many of you replied "street food". I am wondering where you would like the street food to be located and what kind of street food you would like to see. I know there is El Rumbe in the Oxmoor Toyota Center. What others are around town and where?

The Gordita (sp) trailer at Eastland shopping center on Bardstown Rd. A couple of hot dog stands downtown.

The city of Louisville makes it difficult to do this with their regulations. Of course the city makes it difficult to do any small business.

When I think "street food," I think of food available on the street in pedestrian areas. In Louisville, that would mean street food along Bardstown Rd./Baxter Ave., Frankfort Ave., downtown, and maybe the East Market area.

The food trailers are nice, but for the most part they are all in very non-pedestrian friendly places.

I used to live in Portland, OR - they have over 400 food carts! Everything you can think of!

I would love to see some in Louisville. Any area that has Pedestrian traffic. One open late night on Baxter would be awesome.
