Sari Sari Great Dinner!

by Doug Chin » Sat Jul 24, 2010 11:08 am

We tried Sari Sari Filipino restaurant for the first time last night. Opted for the Friday night buffet.
There was a soup, appetizer, chicken, eggplant beef, and pork dish, along with two rice dishes, kidney beans, and a hot dessert.
Each dish had a flavor of its own. The use of lemongrass stood out in a few of the dishes.
The dishes were very fresh and piping hot in temperature. A few dishes had a spicy hotness, but not over powering.
Our server and the cook were very helpful explaining the dishes.
Cost for the buffet was $12 per person
Located at 2339 Frankfort Road. Lunch Wed.-Fri.-11:30 am – 2 pm and Dinner Tues.-Sat. 5pm- 9 pm
Already craving the food again!

I LOVE Sari Sari. The Mung Bean and Coconut soup is delicious - I hope that was the soup on the buffet for you last night. It has lots of lemongrass in it, which I love to chew on. Need to get in there again soon.

We have never had a bad meal at Sari Sari, in fact I should say that we always have a great meal at Sari Sari. Susan even calls ahead to make sure that they save her some Lumpia (with the small kitchen operation, they can run out, especially on a Friday or Saturday night). Lourdes and Tony run a great place.

We went there last weekend; first time in a long time. The food was good; nice and flavorful. Better than the dinner, though, was the dessert. The coconut/pineapple flan was one of the best desserts I have ever had in my life! It had a creamy consistency and the taste was great!! Perfect summer dessert!!

Cynthia,
Glad you enjoyed. We are heading up in a few weeks and we are going to the Purple Pig. We are going to try at least two new restaurants this trip.
You will enjoy Sari Sari. The air condition was working overtime when we ate there last Friday due to the heat outside, which made it a little uncomfortable, but still it was great.

Doug,
See if you can get a seat at the" food bar" @ the Purple Pig.
Straight in the door, last seats at the bar before the kitchen.
Lots going on.
Also you recommended a place for Tapas, the name is escaping me.
Have a great trip. Cynthia

Sari Sari is one of my favorites. I really think they may have some of the best soups in Louisville. The Coconut Mung Bean, Spicy Chicken,...and the weekly specials. Everything really is so flavorful. I eat there almost once a week now. And if they have the corn chowder as a special, which they do this week, I'm there for sure. And lately I've been hooked to the fish tacos.

Some times it can be crowded and then others we're the only table there. I think that's partly why I go almost every week. I really don't want them to go out of business. The food is so good. I need to make it to the Friday buffet night soon. Haven't made it to that in a while.
