Karaoke Help

by RichardM » Fri Jul 23, 2010 9:38 pm

A bunch of the people from TFM are going to go out NEXT Saturday evening 7/31/10, and they want to do Karaoke as part of the evening. Something about seeing people sing poorly. I am not carrying around a 55 Gallon Drum so I will not be singing at all.

Anyway what I would like to know is if anyone has any experience with Akiko on Bardstown Rd?

We are going to Dragon King's Daughter first, then crawl across the street to Akiko. I have read online comments and they are at best a mixed bag. Any one here on the forum have any first hand experience?

Do they have a web site of their own?

Thanks

I haven't been to Aikiko in years. But if it doesn't work out, I believe Highland Tap Room does karaoke most nights.

Akiko's is very, very interesting. It's a crap shot on the type of evening you will have there. Of course the only way I've ever stepped foot into the place I was well on my way to sloppy inebriation. That being said, I always sort of remember having a great time there.

I find the you have to know the dj/mc at Akiko's to actually get a turn. He lets his friends sing over and over again. I guess it kind of depends on how packed the place is. They also only have beer and saki. We got to The Tavern (open 22 hours a day) on 4th and Gaulbert (sp?). It's an interesting mix and you will get several turns.
