I don't want to bash our fine local eateries, Annemarie, but Wine Spectator awards are pretty much bogus. Restaurants pay them a substantial fee to enter, and if you enter, you win the award based on their review of your wine list. They don't come out to check, and in my experience there are no losers.

About all that plaque really shows is that the restaurant cares enough about wine to want to display the award.
