WIth Carolina gone, where to get good steamed fish?

by Robin Garr » Thu Jul 22, 2010 12:26 pm

A reader asks a darn good question:

"With the closing of Carolina Shrimp and Seafood, are you aware of any other good places in Louisville or the close surrounding area that serves really good steamed fish?"

Ideas, anyone? Obviously something similar - quick-service, affordable price - would be ideal. Does anybody around town in that niche do anything other than fry fish?

That's a good question...

Grilled grouper at Beef O'Brady's is the closest I can think of.

I am not too sure about steamed fish options in Louisville. However, I've found that the Fishery has a very good baked scrod meal and Stan's has grilled / broiled fish also. Both are nice alternatives to fried fish. DD

I agree with Derrick! One addition. any of your Nuevo Latino establishments will have fabulous grouper dishes. I believe they come in either entree or sandwich! yum! :D

Rumors in Middletown does a lot of decent steamed seafood items.

Not sure about fish, and haven't been in a while so I don't know how the quality is holding up. They stay in business and usually seem busy....

What about Seafood Connection? I wonder if they'd consider later hours with Carolina gone!

Going to eat there tonight...I used to eat there a lot growing up (there used to be miniature golf next door too). Still very tasty!! They have one in Lexington now, which I just noted from their website. http://www.rumorsrestaurants.com

Marie, I hope you'll take a minute later on to post a note about it. It doesn't have to be a full review if you don't care to, but we haven't had a report on Rumor's in ages, and I'd like to know how it's doing. :)
