MenusofLouisville.com gone?

by Joe C » Tue Jul 20, 2010 8:13 pm

Does anyone know what happened to them? I have tried the website several times and keep getting a message that the website is down. I hope they come back.

Joe, I'm surprised and disappointed that no one here has any info on this.

I just clicked it to check, and you are correct, the nature of that redirect strongly suggests that they've let their Web address lapse and a cybersquatter has taken over rights to the name.

I notice that the older local menu site, http://www.louisvillediner.com/, is still active, and I hope it might serve a similar local purpose.

I would really like to confirm Menus of Louisville's absence, though, as we have both menu sites linked from the LouisvilleHotBytes.com front page, and I don't want to leave a bad link up there for long.

Wasn't a forumite, John Lisherness, the publisher of MenusOfLouisville? John, are you lurking out there? Can you (or anyone) help clear this up?

I too happened upon this a couple weeks ago and thought it just to be a temporary error; it's unfortunate they may not be on-line. The site was a very useful tool.

I NEVER have the inside scoop on anything restaurant, but I actually do on this one, having had dinner with John on Friday night. I'll leave it to him to elaborate, but the long and short of it is that Google has become so effective with restaurant information that he felt MoL was becoming redundant.

Everybody is slave to google.

I noticed this a few months ago, and was hoping that it was temporary as well. I used menusoflouisville.com in conjunction with louisvillediners.com and the Hotbytes links/forum. Each had some restaurant links or menus that the others did not, and seemed to fill in the gaps quite well, particularly for those restaurants who do not have their own website. I wish John would reconsider, but I imagine it's a lot to maintain.
