Strawberry preserves

by Sarita C » Mon Jul 12, 2010 6:51 pm

Does anyone one know of a brand that has chunks of strawberries in it?
I love Lynn's strawberry preserves.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Stay cool.

We like Bonne Maman preserves, the strawberry does have chunks of strawberry in it. We've seen it at some of the Kroger's, Whole Foods and a few other places. Little more expensive, but really does taste like something grandma would have made. Look for the white labels with the red checker lids.

I love their cherry preserves but have never had their Strawberry. I usually stock up when it's on sale at Meijers.

I wonder if Lynn's has ever considered canning their preserves for sale. Seems to me to be a no brainer.

Canning is really easy. Strawberry preserves is a piece of cake to make. I just follow the directions in the Ball canning book and I haven't killed anyone yet. ;)

Yeah...I'm pretty comfortable canning and have canned jam before. I found that the strawberries break up though. I'm looking for whole pieces of fruit in the jam.

Try adding a cup of diced fruit at the last 2 to 3 minutes of cooking. The only problem you might run into is the preserves might not set up.

If you are a member of Costco, you should try their strawberry preserves. There are big chucks of berry in there and is is organic :D

Ball makes a no-cook fruit pectin with a very easy freezer jam recipe...you can make your strawberries as chunky as you want. You do have to crush them some so that you get the juice, but you don't have to pulverize them if you don't want to. I made my own about a month ago and it is pretty chunky.

My in-laws live over in that area of town and shop for everything at Costco.
As luck would have it we are having dinner with them tonight so I might swing by and try their preserves.

Thanks!
