Shakesbeer with Shakespeare in Central Park!

by Robin Garr » Thu Jul 01, 2010 5:31 pm

Shakespeare with Shakesbeer at the Festival

For the first time in Kentucky Shakespeare history, the Festival is including beer and wine in concession sales, thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsors Bluegrass Brewing Company and Brown-Forman. Select Brown-Forman wines and the BBC's special brew, fondly named Shakesbeer, are for sale in the amphitheater for $5 a glass or pint.

Shakesbeer, named in honor of the 50th season of Shakespeare in Central Park, is an incarnation of the BBC's popular Nut Brown Ale. A Northeastern English style brown ale, Shakesbeer is brewed with six malts that create a malty body, and finishes off with notes of chocolate and caramels. It certainly is a beer fit for a Bard!

Please remember, no outside alcohol is permitted in Metro Parks. Alcohol sold by the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival is permitted only within the perimeter of the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheater.

Join us in Central Park for the remainder of the 50th season of "Free Will."

Shakespeare in Central Park continues through July 18 in Central Park. For details and schedule, click:

That used to be John's favorite BBC beer.

If I'm free, I'd be down for that Marsha! Shall we form an offline thread?

One of the coolest things that Louisville still manages to do every year. Great fun as well as great training for our local actors. If you haven't been, go. It's a wonderful way to spend an evening.
