New Bun At Home Run Burgers

by Kathy K S » Tue Jun 29, 2010 6:35 pm

Finally - after two and a half years - we have a bun that we LOVE! Now with three locations, our bakery was able to justify making a bun to our specifications. They listened to our "wish list" and came up with a winner! It does not fall apart when you go heavy on the toppings - it's more dense and a bit chewier. This new bun is also a bit sweeter, it's "yeastier" and "eggier" - yes, I am making up words as I go along here. :) And it doesn't have that big crown that sometimes overwhelmed a Li'l League Burger (one beef patty). As you can probably tell, I'm EXCITED about it! We think it's awesome and only wish that we had it since the day we opened.

We tried them yesterday and they are as good as you described! Definitely much better than the ones you used to have. Just another reason to go to Home Run Burgers.

Soooo glad you like it, Mark. Did you notice the Cincinnati Reds photo I put up in your honor? at the Middletown store? Also at St. Matthews, I hung a Reds sign - in addition to the Reds pennant, of course!

Yup, the new bun is a Home Run! I had a cheeseburger for lunch today, and I could definitely notice the difference.

I just tried Home Run Burgers for the first time and everything was great. There was a problem with the Groupon I tried to use and the manager (Hurstbourne location) handled this situation perfectly. Not only was I impressed with the food, but the way the manager resolved my issue will definitely make me a repeat customer.

I was finally able to try the new bun this week. It was good, though I think I prefer the old bun better. I actually liked the squishiness of the old bun! It's not enough to deter me from going to Home Run as often as I do, but it will take some getting used to.

We know we have the best beef and the best toppings but we are STILL working on the best bun. Our It is still in the "think tank". The "new bun" has turned out to be not as soft as we remember when we sampled them, so stay tuned! Thanks for your comments.

My only request is for a whole wheat bun but I dont know if it would sell well enough to justify it.

A whole wheat option would be fantastic! However, I would understand if that just was not feasible.

I still need to try the grilled chicken - might stop by for dinner tonight.
