My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Wiltshire on Market Saturday night. We had one of the best meals we've had in the the area. We started out with the cheese and meat combination appetizer, that we paired with a nice Argentinian Torrontes. On such a hot day, we wanted to get something light and refreshing, and that Torrontes hit the spot. Our server also let us try out the Charles and Charles Rose' while we were making our decisions. It was delicious, but we decided to go with the Torrontes instead. For our main course, my wife had the pork shoulder served over grits, favas and tomatoes, and I had the Hawaiian Barramundi with a spicy slaw. The pork shoulder had to be one of the most tender and flavorful renditions I have ever had. The Barramundi was pan seared with a few spices, and was crispy on the outside, but very tender on the inside. Overall the meal and service were excellent. One nice touch was our server keeping our wine chilled in their refrigerator so that it did not sit at our table warming up.
The only complaint I have (there has to be at least one!) was the bench seating along the walls. While they look great, they get extremely uncomfortable after 20 minutes of so. It did not help that my wife was commenting on how comfortable her seat was. If you go, avoid the benches! This is very minor compared to how wonderful the evening there was.
I look forward to trying them again soon. Our meal of a shared appetizer, bottle of wine and two entrees was a reasonable $86 before tip, so its a very affordable treat. The wine was very reasonably priced at $28 a bottle, which I will take any day with a restaurant markup.
