Nuevo Latino movement or cuban-hispanic however you would l

by Rick Moir » Sat Jun 26, 2010 11:18 am

Thank you god for Fernando Martinez and the great latin food movement that he helped create throughout this city. From the hearty home cooked meals of Havana Rumba to the tantalizing tapas of mojito there are now more then ever the widest variety of nuevo latino restaurants throughout Louisville. I wonder if we shall ever see the talented Chef Martinez in a kitchen in this fine city again, and what can he bring back to the table was Mojito and Havana Rumba everything not to short both grea great places but what can you do after those too?!?!
Anyways i actually just posted this to have some fun and see how many latin, cuban, spanish etc type restaurants the forum could name? Ready, set, go??? and maybe a fav dish from each...

Well, we've got arepas (and arepas rellenos) at La Colombiana now. That covers Colombia and Peru. And with Bruce Ucan's Mayan talent, we've got Yucatan and Guatemala covered. Did you mention Seviche? Anthony Lamas wrote the nuevo latino book for Louisville. Palermo Viejo represents Argentina. I'd like to see a Salvadorean place bring us some pupusas! And real Puertorricano cuisine would be a big plus. (The delightful Buenos Dias Cafe in Jeffersonville covered that base for a while, but it's gone. <sob>

How about the Jerk chicken from Cocos Lokos.

Or a Cuban Sandwich from El Rumbon, Reinold's cuban trailer.

Stopped in Cuba Libre the other night. Leo told me about their new and expanded menu (see http://clarkcountychatter.com/index.php ... ttach_id=7). They also have a new Kids Menu (http://clarkcountychatter.com/index.php ... ttach_id=8).

They are now open 7 days a week (used to close on Mondays).

Lunch is their busiest time of the day and dinner trade seems steady. I have really high hopes for their continued success.

Sundays they have a seafood paella special which I'm anxious to try.

Hope you'll give them a try.

Lois

The links are fine, Lois, but let me look into the attachment issue and see if that's something I can permit (maybe limited to a certain maximum size).

Thanks, Robin. The error message I received didn't say the PDF I tried to upload was too large; it said that PDFs were not allowed at all. I think that might be something recent as I suspect we've uploaded them in the past.

Lois, the forum software is set to allow only jpg and gif images. I'll look behind the curtain, though, and see if it's possible to add pdfs to the permitted list. I meant only that we'll have to have some kind of size limit so people won't inadvertently fill up the server with gigantic files. :)
