Thanks for the awesome subs! Those really are some of the best cheesesteaks we've ever had! It's well out of the way from Fern Creek, but very worth it...we'll be back again! Hubby was really intrigued by the marinara sauce that came with the breadsticks ("perfect blend"), but it's been a while since he's been so impressed with something that he can't get past "Yummm!"

Madi's post inspired me to take a shortcut (!) from St. Matthews to Danny Mac's on my way home to Fern Creek to pick up dinner. I'm glad I did - and so is my family! My husband called me earlier after eating the other half of his Cheesesteak that he took to work for lunch. (I had 1/3 left that I enjoyed for my late breakfast -- so yummy) His coworkers wanted to know where he got it. Clarks Lane is pretty obsure (at least for an east-ender like me) but St. X is an easily recognizable landmark that I referred to.

I wasn't expected the "au jus" that came with it - nice touch and added even more great flavor. Grippo's BBQ chips that came with it are too spicy for me but my two kids and husband love them. I was able to chat with Danny while I waited for my order. (The counter girl told me that it goes under the broiler THREE times is why it takes a while) I am putting his phone number in my cell as soon as I send this post for call-ahead ordering. No more Penn Station Cheesesteaks for us!

Lol! Consider it fair warning...they are addictive! I was in the area this afternoon and was half tempted to swing by and snag one...but I had already picked up lunch not realizing I was going to be a few minutes away :(

My wife works on campus and we live near Bardstown Rd and Eastern Pkwy. Danny Mac's has become a regular stop for us. The cordon bleu sandwich is fantastic.
