If you only had two weeks in Louisville, where would you go?

by Keith D Heath » Fri Jun 25, 2010 10:49 am

Give or take a couple of days, my wife and I only have a couple of weeks left in Louisville before a move to the big D... you know Dallas, not death or divorce. Although the relocation was anticipated, the actual move has come on use very quickly. So, if you only had two weeks to appreciate the great locals that we have, where would you go?

We're planning on a trip to Rich O's on Saturday and have already hit Havana Rumba. Seviche is on our list as well. I'm looking for about 5 others that we might also want to visit.

Thanks for the help.

Palermo
Z's or Z Fusion
Dakshin ( And the taco trailer in the parking lot )
Tony Bombozz
Del Friscos
-----------------------

Those would be 5 off the top of my head.

In addition to the aforementioned Seviche, which is a must, you should consider Corbett's and 610 Magnolia on the high end; 732 Social or Wiltshire on Market for memories of the growing scene in NuLu; and maybe Vietnam Kitchen. But there are so many options that I'd hate to miss on a final Louisville tour. Palermo Viejo. Papalino's. Equus/Jack's. The decks at Captain's Quarters.

Are you sure you can't stretch out that couple of weeks?

In any case, Keith, happy trails and best wishes in your next venture. I hope you enjoy Dallas, and if you catch a mood for a nostalgia hit, you're always welcome to come back to the HotBytes forum and brag about how much better the Tex-Mex food is down there. :)

I think they already hit BBC, but he left it off his list.

For one the higher end places, I would go to either
Corbett's
The Oakroom at the Seelbach
Lilly's or Jack Fry's(basically Louisville institutions).

Other places I wouldn't want to miss are,
The Plind Pig
732 Social
Bank St. Brewhouse
L&N
Le Relais
Uptown Cafe
Paplino's Pizza
Mojito's
Varenese

And few uniquely Louisville places to eat.
Any Catholic Church picnic. Most have wonderful (and cheap) fish frys or chicken dinners.
Mike Linning's
Captain's Quarters
Dan Thomas
Operator Specialist
Waypoint

All great ideas and I'll dog-pile on the Captain's Quarters suggestion. Eat outside, look at the river and take that experience with you. Maybe later you'll recall it and you'll come back here to us!

If I only had two weeks left in Louisville, I'd spend the time doing my favorite Louisville things, going to my favorite Louisvile place and dining at my favorite Louisville restaurants/cafes.

I'd also make a last few trips to the Comfy Cow for ice cream.
