Volare birthday dinner

by Adam Smith » Thu Jun 24, 2010 11:42 pm

Went to Volare for the first time tonight, for my birthday. Spent over an hour at the bar and had apps and drinks, everything was wonderful except the calamari that was VERY chewy and was eventually taken off our bill. I ordered an Italian wine from the 1/2 price bottle menu and it wasn't very good, but since I don't read or speak Italian I had a feeling I'd be disappointed.

After that we sat and ordered a bottle of California wine and our meals. Everything was wonderful, especially my Osso Buco and the free desserts(my mom must have mentioned my birthday.) The tiramisu and creme brulee were OUTSATNDING.

I'll definitely be back.

I really enjoyed your review, Adam- and especially enjoyed your frankness. I also got a kick outta the fact that you are a 'play through the rough' foodie. Some tough squid (it happens) or a bottling you didn't enjoy won't keep you from going back and enjoying all that this particular gem has to offer.

Huzzah!
:D

EDIT: What about that FOH hospitality? That's the way it should be done, in my experience. They have quietly collected some of the finest FOH talent in the city. Majiid is crazy like a fox in this department...
