Hot Brown Throwdown w/ Bobby Flay

by Amy Hoover » Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:26 pm

The online TV guide tells me this is airing tonight for the first time at 9pm on the Food Network. Should be entertaining!

Oooh! Oooh! That's the one where Flay took on the Castro brothers, and Chef Todd from the Seelbach and I were the judges.

I'm really irritated ... FoodTV apparently didn't issue any advance publicity. They were supposed to notify me well in advance, and I would have publicized it for them. Dummies!

If anyone has the facilities to capture it on VCR (or better yet, DVD), I'll be much in your debt if you would make a copy for me. We're doing some renovation here with the odd result that I have a new TV and a relatively new computer, but no access to a VCR or DVR.

Hot Brown

Watching it now! It must have been a GE event... because I see a few employees that I know in the backround!

Robin, you remind me of Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Capote).

Looking forward to the Judging!

Yum!

Having never seen Robin in the flesh, it was interesting. Robin, you look nothing like I imagined.

Fun show.

I enjoyed that one much more than I enjoyed the breakfast throw down with Lynn Winters. (but I do have all the respect in the world for her as a person and marketer/self-promoter.)

Awesome show. Great judges!

I was very impressed. It looked like both versions of the Hot Brown were outstanding.

I have to say this about Bobby Flay. I've watched a lot of his showdowns and he almost always loses----but he always puts out a great product. The thing is, he always goes against someone who has a very amazing specialty. I'm impressed with a guy who is willing to put himself out there and losing with such great grace. I know that is, in large part, what the show is about, but it makes Bobby so very neat.

Yeah, but he makes up for it on Iron Chef.

That is why I like and respect the show. If Bobby won even 50% of the throwdowns you'd begin to think it was rigged. He should loose most of the time.

Anyone see the Gumbo throwdown? It was really cool because Bobby actually burnt the gumbo and still had to use it. He lost but the judges didn't know it got burnt.

if it's not too much trouble, i wouldn't mind a copy to pass around with the rest of the staff here at the Oakroom.
(i have insight for internet, but not tv anymore... kinda miss my dvr. :( )

I really enjoyed watching that last night and being able to put a face with Robin's name!
I have only seen Bobby win once, that was the burger throwdown.
